A New Approach to Setting Health Goals for Lasting Results
Resolutions rarely work – so it’s time for a new approach
With weight related goals accounting for 38% of total resolutions that get set each and every year, I’ve decided to share with you an entire chapter from my upcoming book, Finding Your Forever Body: A 10-Step Guide to Breaking the Diet Cycle for good. As we gear up for the new year, I feel this content is extremely relevant, as typically only 8% of people achieve their resolutions.
Frankly, I’d like to see weight related resolutions a thing of the past, which is why I’m so excited to launch this book in the new year. But in the meantime, I thought I’d share a bit of its content with you in a 3-part video series, as we prepare to welcome in another new year.
As a brief introduction, I also want to share with you that I’m speaking from years and years of experience setting New Year’s Resolutions that I never achieved. In my book, I offer a lot more insight into my personal history with diets, but January 1st was always a particularly stressful time where I put a lot of pressure on myself to make drastic changes to my diet and lifestyle.
I remember, during my most diet-obsessed days, spending each New Year’s Eve gorging on food and alcohol that I’d plan to restrict the next day and going forward. To the point where I’d make myself sick. And of course, I was never able to make or sustain any drastic changes I wanted to make, so my self-esteem took a huge hit at the beginning of each year.
After a long journey towards breaking my personal diet cycle, I finally came to a point where I no longer put so much pressure on January 1st (or on Mondays!), or make resolutions, ever. Instead, I’ve taken a “consistent improvement” approach, which is the foundation of my Forever Body philosophy. So, here is the first video of the 3-part series I’ve recorded for you, which can be applied no matter what your health goals may be – weight loss or otherwise.
Please remember as you watch this, this is a NEW approach to setting health goals, so although this first video may seem completely unrelated to your health goals, trust me, it’s not.
This is why this approach works, and why I believe it’s the key to achieving your health goals for good, and to never having to set another New Year’s Resolution again. In the 2nd and 3rd videos, you’ll see how this step ties into your health goals, so please stay with me throughout the series.
It was a little over 10 years ago that I personally first applied this step – and it marked the beginning of a new, healthier relationship with food and my body. The great news is that you can do this any time of year – and enjoy all your future holiday celebrations!
